A Lost Manuscript, Found

Her Legacy: A Journey to Truth

The memoir of a British revert to Islam, published posthumously by her daughter

"It was her dying wish to publish this book. After more than twenty-five years, her words have finally found the world."

This is the true story of a British woman, born in London to White British parents, who embraced Islam in 1981, moved by the injustice she witnessed during South African apartheid. Her search for justice became a search for truth, and that truth transformed her life.

She wrote this book for reverts, for those who, like her, navigate a path of faith without always having family or community support. It is a guide, a testimony, and an act of love for those who may feel alone in their journey toward Islam.

She passed away in December 1999 from stage four bowel cancer, before her dream of publication could be realised. The manuscript was believed lost for over two decades, until, through the mercy of Allah, a close friend who had safeguarded her copy returned it to her daughter. At last, her voice can reach the world as she always intended.

What's inside

  • A first-person account of one woman's path from 1980s London to Islam
  • Reflections on finding security and belonging as a new Muslim
  • Guidance for reverts navigating unsupportive family or community
  • A daughter's tribute and the story of how this manuscript came to be published

Published as Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous charity, in loving memory of the author. Every copy purchased is a continuation of her legacy and her reward, insha'Allah.
